Does your license make you an accredited investor?

Enter your CRD number and we will check the public FINRA / SEC registry instantly. An active Series 7, 65, or 82 qualifies you under SEC rules.

Check your license

Instant eligibility result from the official FINRA BrokerCheck / SEC IAPD registry.
Informational only. No signup, no payment. We check the public registry, not your financials.

The licenses that qualify today

Since the SEC's 2020 order (Rule 501(a)(10)), holding one of these active and in good standing makes you an accredited investor regardless of income or net worth.

Series 7General Securities Representative
Series 65Investment Adviser Representative
Series 82Private Securities Offerings Representative

Hold a Series 66? You qualify too — it is held together with the Series 7.

Free check vs. the signed letter

This tool tells you whether you qualify. A sponsor raising under Reg D 506(c) needs documented proof — a CPA-signed letter.

  • This free check confirms your license is a qualifying accredited-investor credential and is currently active. It is informational, for your own confidence.
  • The $49 CPA-signed letter is what a sponsor accepts for their file: a licensed CPA confirms your license on the registry and signs a Reg D 506(c) verification letter with a public certificate ID.
  • Why a letter, not a screenshot? Rule 506(c) requires the issuer to take reasonable steps to verify each investor — a signed third-party determination, not an investor's own say-so.

Qualify by license? Get your letter for $49.

A CPA-signed Reg D 506(c) verification letter — no financial documents, typically within 24 hours.

Questions

Which professional licenses make you an accredited investor?

Under SEC Rule 501(a)(10), a natural person holding an active FINRA Series 7, Series 65, or Series 82 license in good standing is an accredited investor, regardless of income or net worth. A Series 66 holder qualifies because the Series 66 is held together with the Series 7. This has been in effect since the SEC's 2020 order.

What does this free license check tell me?

It confirms, against the public FINRA BrokerCheck and SEC IAPD registries, whether the CRD number you enter holds a qualifying accredited-investor license (Series 7, 65, or 82) and whether it is currently active. It is an informational eligibility check only — not a verification letter.

Is the free check a verification letter a sponsor will accept?

No. The free check is informational. For a Regulation D Rule 506(c) raise, a sponsor needs documented reasonable steps — a verification letter signed by a licensed CPA. AccreditedNow issues that letter for $49, with the license confirmed and the CPA's signature a sponsor can rely on.

What is a CRD number and where do I find mine?

A CRD number is the unique identifier FINRA assigns to a registered individual. You can find yours on your FINRA BrokerCheck record or SEC IAPD record, or ask your firm's compliance contact. The check uses the CRD so it confirms the right person's license rather than matching on a name.

Do the SEC's proposed new credentials (CPA, CFA, CFP, exam) qualify me now?

Not yet. In September 2026 the SEC proposed adding a U.S. CPA license, a CFA charter, a CFP certification, the Series 79 and Series 86/87 licenses, and a new FINRA exam as pathways to accredited status. These are proposals open for public comment and are not in effect. Today the qualifying licenses remain the active Series 7, 65, and 82. Read our breakdown →
